FAQ
1. Is it easy to use?
- Yes!
Just Contact us for personal attention.
Calendar Internet is easy to use. Just
follow the instructions on the pages. Even though many of the FAQs on this page are for
Power Users and Web Designer/Developers, you don't need to know any HTML or Web Design at
all. We take care of that all for you as part of your Hosting Services.
FAQ
2. In what ways can I customize my calendar?
- Several
customizations are available in Calendar Internet...
To change the look of your site, edit your Web
page templates...
Your
calendar templates are simply HTML .htm files that
server as "skeletons" to build your pages. You can
change the headings, footings, links, images, background
images and also make other changes to give your calendar
its own look.
Use
an HTML editor or simple text editor to make changes
to your templates. The user guide explains how. If you
would like to receive a
sample template, just contact us.
You
can also rename fields on your templates, to use a
field for a different purpose. For example, you might
want to change the Event Title label to Sales
Rep. Name. This minor name change is useful if
you are using your calendar to see sales rep. schedules
at-a-glance. And, yes, you can also modify your search
form template.
You
can remove fields from your search form and rename
field labels on your templates, if you want to use
them for other purposes.
Need
more data? You can add you own fields. Add fields
to your event table in your calendar database and put
them on the search form, if you
wish.
Customize
your drop-down choice lists, email notifications
and other options.
- There
are many custom options available, which are controlled
by tables in your calendar.mdb Microsoft Access
database. When you install your calendar, you can
modify your options to suit it for your purposes,
such as...
- Max.
Events to Show: Maximum number of events to
return from search. To show all events, set your
number higher (100 or 1000 or more).
- New
Event Notification: You can send an e-mail
notification when someone enters a new event into
your calendar.
- New
Organization Notification: You can send an
e-mail notification when someone enters a new organization
into your calendar.
- Photo
Directory specifies a default directory path
where Calendar images are located.
- Result
Template allows you to specify an alternative
template for your search results page.
- Search
Template allows you to specify an alternative
template for your search form page.
- Self
Register Switch. If No, only administrator
can enter new organizations. This option disables
self-registration.
- Template
Directory specifies where Calendar HTML template
files are located.
- Track
Charges Switch lets you control the creation
of transaction based billing records. If Yes, add
charge records for organization when an event is
entered. If No, do not add records to the charges
table.
- Wall
Calendar Max. Events lets you limit the maximum
number of events to show per day on Wall Calendar.
Enter a higher number to show more events, but
your Wall Calendar day boxes may become elongated
and possibly unsightly.
- Wall
Calendar Max. Length lets you set a maximum
length of event name to show per day on Wall Calendar.
Enter a higher number to show more of the event
titles, but your Wall Calendar day boxes may become
elongated and possibly unsightly.
- Event
Types are also setup in a table. Just edit
your table to categorize your events differently.
Use
URLs to generate filtered views.
The
user guide explains how Calendar Internet builds URLs,
which show filtered views and subsets of your data
(such as a date ranges).
- Filtered
views are great on the Wall Calendar display. This
feature allows you to show just one organization's
calendar of events, or show all, depending on the parameters
you put in your URL.
FAQ
3. Can I consolidate calendars or import from other calendars,
such as Microsoft Outlook?
Yes.
For example, an automated process for one Calendar Internet
user loads room scheduling database information from
EMS Professional
into the user's Calendar Internet site. This application
gives the user great online calendar, because
the Calendar Internet database can be viewed by all
users, not just the users who have access to EMS. This
also means there is no need to install the EMS room scheduler
system on
client PCs
that
just need
to view events. There are no per-seat charges for Calendar
Internet, and there is no limit to the number of users
on Calendar Internet.
Additionally, everyone who has access to the user's Web
site can view other events in addition
to
the
room
scheduler
database events, because more events are added directly
into the Calendar Internet database by using the
Web browser based forms. This works great!
Therefore,
by allowing consolidation of calendars, Calendar Internet
gives the user a complete and flexible organization-wide
calendar.
If
you would like more information about loading events
from other calendaring and scheduling applications into
Calendar Internet, just ask us. We will be glad to help
you with your calendaring project.
FAQ
4. Can I have more than one calendar? Does it cost more?
Yes!
You can have as many calendars as you desire. And, it
does not cost more. Your user
guide explains
how
to
have
as many
calendars
on your server as you have room for.
There
is also no per-user fee or per-client fee. No per-seat
fees! When we host your calendar, your setup fee for
additional calendars can be based on an hourly support
rate, and monthly fees are based on Web traffic to your
site. (No
disk space fees!)

FAQ
5. We are looking for a calendar hosting service that will allow us to
do online scheduling & booking of meeting rooms.
Our current software must allow users to book various rooms based
on size and equipment available. We want to be able to
do this on our Intranet. Will Calendar Internet
do this?
Many
sites use Calendar Internet to keep track of schedules,
including applications such as law office appointments
and important case dates, lab instrument scheduling,
and even taxi services.
Your
Calendar Internet access can be password protected, so
only users from your organization can view and post events
on your calendar.
In
your case, since your resource is a meeting room. You
would create one organization record for each room. However,
please note that Calendar Internet doesn't keep your
users from double booking a time and room, so your users
will have to think about that on their own.
FAQ
4. Can I buy Calendar Internet and install it on my own
server?
Starting
July 20, 2005, we offer Calendar Internet as a hosting
service only.
Prior
to 2005, many organizations purchased and installed Calendar
Internet, and we are still supporting those sites. However,
the product is no longer available as a licensed software
product for sale.
